Steve Charles’ priority has always been to work only with the very best materials and craftsmanship. Having travelled to the furthest corners of the world for the past three decades Steve Charles has discovered the very best craftsmen in the world. Also working with talented craftsmen and artisans in Britain, Steve Charles is constantly innovating and pushing boundaries.

Steve Charles will design in almost any natural surface material, accessing techniques from many different cultures. Many of these skills are now extremely rare, practiced only by very small numbers of craftsmen. Steve Charles’ ethically supports small studio workshops: from his studio in India whose work includes: repousse; inlay and overlay; wood and stone carving; enamelling: forged work, cosmati, lapideri work from semi precious stones to sandstone; to a solo artisan in Cornwall who has revived the Florentine technique of scaglioli.
